The Bookworms Afterschool Reading Program is a grant-funded literacy intervention program that provides reading support for approximately 20 Pre-K through 2nd grade students at E. M. Daggett Elementary who are struggling with reading. The program meets on Thursdays during the school year from 3:10pm-4:30pm. Volunteers work alongside Literacy United Reading Specialists to support students through engaging, evidence-based literacy activities, including small-group instruction, one-on-one reading practice, literacy games, and hands-on learning experiences designed to build foundational reading skills and confidence. Camp Rise and Read A joyful, small-group summer literacy camp where children build reading skills through games, movement, art, and hands-on learning – all while growing confidence and a love of reading.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Tarrant County provides a unique opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child. CASA volunteers are trained, court-appointed adults that advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children. During the life of the case, you’ll act as the one constant in the child’s life as they experience changes in foster placements, schools and caseworkers.
Commitment: The commitment of a CASA volunteer lasts the length of a child’s court case, which is usually between 12 to 18 months. The first step in becoming a CASA volunteer is attending a one-hour Information Session, which is available both via Zoom and in-person. We host several local events and mobile food drives. We are opening doors to internship in the following areas: marketing, finances (possibility of a paid internship), and photography/videography.

Each internship is open for a one-year contract with mostly virtual meeting with the Board of Directors and in person meeting during community events. Rivertree Academy is looking for volunteers to assist at our school! Please see the opportunities below: After-School Club Leaders lead an after-school club that exposes students to new interests and extracurricular activities such as art, sports, robotics, cooking, or another special skill or hobby. Clubs meet on weekdays from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, and volunteers choose the day of the week and length of their commitment. Student Mentors are paired with a student to build a meaningful relationship through planned group activities and one-on-one time. Mentors serve as an extra source of encouragement and meet one Friday each month from 1:30pm – 3:00pm. Library Aides support our school library by organizing books, helping students find reading materials, and reading aloud. Volunteers serve on Wednesday afternoons from 12:45pm – 2:50pm. Teen Life is looking for volunteers to get trained to facilitate on-campus support groups in local middle and high schools. Interested students would complete our Teen Life training and then be matched with a campus that fits their location and schedule. Facilitators use our Teen Life curriculum to guide engaging lessons and activities on topics including strengths, relationships, goal-setting, resilience & resources and create a safe space for a group of approximately 8-10 students to share openly and find support.
Commitment: Our facilitators must commit to one full cycle of a group (approximately 9 weeks), 1 time per week for approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour. Groups are typically during traditional school hours (9:00am – 4:00pm). We also require that volunteers go through our Teen Life training (which are fully online and self-paced, taking approximately 3.5 – 4 hours).

The WARM Place is a nonprofit grief support center dedicated to helping children and families who have experienced the death of a loved one. Through peer support groups, we provide a safe and compassionate environment where participants can connect with others who understand their grief journey. Our mission would not be possible without the dedication and support of our volunteers. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of grieving families. One volunteer role is that of a Houseparent Volunteer. Before each evening peer support group, we provide a potluck dinner for our families. Houseparent Volunteers assist with preparing, serving, and cleaning up after these meals, helping create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Our greatest need is for Volunteer Facilitators. Facilitators work directly with children during support groups, guiding discussions, leading activities, and providing peer support in a caring environment. To become a Volunteer Facilitator, individuals must complete all four required training sessions. Fall Facilitator Training: September 8, 6:00pm – 8:00pm; September 12, 9:00am – 3:00pm; September 15, 6:00pm – 8:00pm; September 19, 9:00am – 3:00pm.
