Another Zoom

Thursday, March 19, 2020 – Philip Dodd

As I closed out of my 17th Zoom meeting of the week, I let out a heavy sigh of frustration. My coworkers seemed to be powering through with lots of new ideas and remote teamwork. They seemed enthusiastic and engaged in everything that was happening on campus (even if virtually).

I was not.

And I realized that in the next few weeks, many of you may feel similar at some point.

Our team is just starting this online adventure. Days ago I was anxious about being around others who might have the virus, or even worse, being the one who was unknowingly spreading it to others. While I feel safer now, I also feel lost. Stalled. Unsure of what matters. For me. For my family. For my coworkers and for our students. Even for the global community.

I want those in our TCU community to know it is okay if you are struggling with similar thoughts. Heck, it’s somewhat expected with everything in our lives changing so quickly.

As we fight to remain connected, we need to lean on one another. It is important to share our thoughts. Communicate with each other. If you need someone to listen, I am here – philip.dodd@tcu.edu.
