Frog Camp Faculty/Staff Partners

Frog Camp is a unique extended orientation experience designed to help incoming students connect with peers, learn about campus culture, and develop a sense of belonging before their first semester begins. • What is the role of a Faculty/Staff Partner at Frog Camp?
    • Faculty/Staff Partners serve as mentors for incoming students; helping them build connections, feel welcome at TCU, and engage in meaningful discussions and activities throughout the camp experience.
  • Will I need to lead activities or discussions?
    • Faculty/Staff Partners participate in discussions and support students, but student leaders primarily run the camp programming. Your role is to engage, encourage, and connect with students in an informal and supportive way.
  • What are the time commitments for Faculty/Staff Partners?
    • Faculty/Staff Partners are asked to stay the full duration of their Frog Camp, including overnight at the hotel or campsite (3 days and 2 nights). Training occurs the morning of your camp. For travel camps (out of state) training occurs the day before departure.
  • Do I need prior experience to participate?
    • No! We welcome new faculty and staff to Frog Camp every summer and provide training to ensure all Faculty/Staff Partners feel prepared and confident in their role.
  • How many Faculty/Staff Partners are selected?
    • Local/DFW area camps have around 150-200 students. Therefore anywhere from 14-20 faculty/staff are at each session.
    • Travel (out of state camps) take 24-28 students. Only 2-4 faculty/staff partners are at each travel camp.
  • How are Faculty/Staff Partners selected for specific camps?
    • Camp placements are determined based on availability, experience, and camp needs.
  • Can I choose which Frog Camp I attend?
    • During the application process, you can indicate your availability and camp preferences. While we try to accommodate requests, final placements depend on camp needs and schedule availability.
  • What if I have scheduling conflicts with camp dates?
    • You must be fully available for all days of your Frog Camp as well as nights; you will stay onsite for camp. Please only select camps you are fully available for when applying.
  • Who gets to participate in a travel, out-of-state, camp?
    • Faculty/staff partners who have participated in local camps at least one year prior are eligible.
  • Is there a cost to participate?
    • No, participation is free for Faculty/Staff Partners! Travel, lodging, and meals are covered while you are at camp. You may be asked to pay for a meal or two on your own; this varies based on each camp.
  • What should I pack for Frog Camp?
    • Packing lists vary by camp location, and shirts for all three days will be provided. Essentials typically include comfortable clothing for Texas heat, closed-toe shoes, a water bottle, and any personal items you may need for the duration of the camp. A detailed packing list will be provided before camp.
